Our church family and the New Life Fellowship church has linked up with Children's Hopechest to help orphans in Kayango Uganda.
The Kayango Center is located in a small village right off a main highway. Because of the traffic and the activities of the trucking industry, HIV/AIDS is more widely spread in this area and has devastated this community. The center was started as a ministry to orphans in this small community by Peter Mutebi. Peter is an evangelist who has planted over 1,000 churches across Uganda and has a vision to reach 10,000 orphans. The center is an extension of a church plant, started in 2002. The idea is to care for the children in long term, holistic, redemptive ways through the ongoing ministry of sponsorship. There are currently 100 children involved in sponsorship with access to an additional 400 orphans in the nearby communities. The goal is to begin outreaches in this place that will address physical, medical, education, emotional and spiritual needs. The pastor of this church is involved in the local community as a teacher as well.
